New Director Starts at UNU-WIDER

Danish development economist Finn Tarp took up his post as director of United Nations University– World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) on 1 September 2009. He succeeds Anthony Shorrocks, who served as UNU-WIDER Director from 1 January 2001 through 30 April 2009.
Finn Tarp is committed to the mandate of UNU-WIDER, which undertakes applied research and policy analysis on global development, poverty and inequality issues. As Director he has overall responsibility for the research and management of the Institute. His research priorities are:
· poverty, income distribution and growth
· economic policy and modelling
· international development assistance
