Vietnam Recognizes UNU-WIDER Director
During the celebrations taking place on 23 November 2011 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark, the Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Nguyễn Quân, awarded the development merit ‘Medal for the Cause of Science and Technology’ to UNU-WIDER Director Finn Tarp, who is Professor of Development Economics at the University of Copenhagen.
Finn Tarp has for more than a decade been the leader of an extensive programme of policy-relevant development research and capacity-building in Vietnam in collaboration with a range of national and international partners. They include the Central Institute of Economic Management (CIEM), the Institute of Science and Social Affairs (ILSSA) and the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Affairs (IPSARD), on the one hand, and colleagues from UNU-WIDER, the University of Copenhagen and elsewhere, on the other.
