This Special Section explores some aspects and consequences of capital flows, trade, employment, and growth that affect the global economy in general, and China and India in particular. From this perspective, a number of questions arise: How do the changing patterns of a country’s trade and specialization and the related allocation of resources—both domestic and international—affect welfare? And how do the performances of China and India challenge the conventional theories of international trade? Furthermore, the necessary economic and institutional conditions for attracting FDI, and in enhancing the countries’ comparative advantages, their economic performances, and the welfare of people are important areas of research. This collection of papers follows through on these key issues.
