Health Inequalities and Development

Project name/title
Health Inequalities and Development
Year:
2006
Theme:
Poverty, Inequality and Well-being
Abstract:
The purpose of this project is to investigate issues related to health inequality with a particular interest on developing countries. Although health is an important indicator of overall wellbeing, it is only recently that research has focused on health inequality. Through this project we would bring forth issues related to measurement of health indicators, establish composite indexes of health status, conduct rigorous empirical work on both trends and causal factors behind health inequality within and between countries, analyze the implications of health deprivations on poverty traps and suggest practical policies which can be implemented without much difficulty.
