Human Development Report 2019 - Launch event in Helsinki


The UNDP Human Development Report 2019 focuses on inequalities in the twenty-first century and how they weaken social cohesion and economic growth, and damage people’s trust in government, institutions, and in each other.

The Finnish launch, hosted by UNDP Finland, featured the keynote speech by Elina Kalkku, Under-Secretary of State for Development Policy, and presentation of the report by Ulrika Modéer, Assistant Secretary-General and Director for UNDP Bureau for External Relations and Advocacy.

UNU-WIDER Senior Research Fellow, Rachel Gisselquist, moderated the panel discussion with:

  • Katja Ahlfors, Director, Unit for Development Policy, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland
