Eva-Maria Egger is an applied economist holding a PhD from the University of Sussex, UK. She is a WIDER Research Fellow based in Mozambique where she also works as technical advisor for poverty assessment to the Ministry of Economics and Finance as part of the Inclusive Growth in Mozambique programme. Her research focuses on poverty, rural development, migration, and labor markets in developing countries.
Eva-Maria has published her research in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Development Studies and contributed to book chapters and policy reports, such as the Rural Development Report 2019 – Creating Opportunities for Rural Youth of the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
She has research and field work experience in Brazil, Ghana, Peru, South Africa and now Mozambique.
