Research Associate
Marlies Piek is a Research Associate at UNU-WIDER. She works on the Southern Africa – Towards Inclusive Economic Development (SA-TIED) programme and is based in Pretoria, South Africa.
Her interests include labour economics, poverty and inequality, and the economics of education. Her current work analyses the effects of minimum wage shocks using rich administrative tax data in South Africa. Apart from research, her work entails making de-identified administrative tax and other data available for research and managing a secure data facility.
