The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry’s journal featured UNU-WIDER's new book 'Growth and Poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa'

The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry’s journal Nytt & Noterat discussed key findings from UNU-WIDER’s recent book ‘Growth and Poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa’.

'UNU-WIDER's report underlines very clearly the importance of the role of African agriculture for development. Smallholding appears to be of particular importance in order to achieve growth and poverty reduction in the countries.'

The book includes case studies from 16 countries, which collectively represent nearly three-quarters of the sub-Saharan African population. Nytt & Noterat’s article concludes by stating that African countries and the donor community need to embrace empirical work - this is a challenge that has also been addresses in 2030 Agenda and Paris climate change agenda.
