Finn Tarp Moderates Public Meeting on Nordic Development Cooperation

The Finnish Minister for International Development Pekka Haavisto invited his Nordic colleagues to Helsinki to discuss how to enhance cooperation on development policy issues.

On Friday 14 March the Nordic Development Ministers and their advisers ended the two day meeting with a public seminar on “Nordic Cooperation towards eradicating poverty and ensuring sustainable development for all”. The event was moderated by Finn Tarp, Director of UNU-WIDER.

The conversation revolved around some of the key issues raised in the joint statement on the Nordic priorities for the post-2015 agenda: poverty, inequality and inclusion; gender equality and women’s empowerment; sustainable energy for all; universality of the new development agenda; and the key importance of sustainability in development.
