Lessons from Vietnam – An Interview with Carol Newman

In this interview Carol Newman discusses the success of the Vietnamese economic transformation and lessons which can be drawn for Africa. She explains the importance of entrepreneurial culture, and the significance of agglomeration and spatial clustering of firms. The importance of exporting, foreign direct investment, infrastructure and the enabling role of government are also addressed.

Dr Newman is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Trinity College Dublin (on sabbatical during 2013-14 academic year at the University of Copenhagen).
