Post-graduate studies in the University of Ghana

The University of Ghana is offering a PhD programme in Development Economics in collaboration with the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER). Upon graduation, students are awarded a doctoral degree by the University of Ghana.

The University of Ghana and UNU-WIDER combine their expertise in economics to offer this collaborative programme, which endeavours to provide future leaders in the field of development economics with the analytical tools necessary for analysing the economic dimensions of development issues, while focusing on the unique characteristics and challenges of developing economies. Graduates will be able to draw on a range of analytical techniques and econometric methods in the development of coherent and timely economic policy. The programme consists of both coursework and research components, and culminates in the writing and defence of a doctoral thesis. Students undertake the majority of their research in Ghana at one of Africa’s premier universities.

The programme begins in January each year. The closing date for applications is 30 November of the year prior to which studies are to commence.
