17-18 November, Brussels, Belgium

International Research Conference on the Effectiveness of Development Cooperation

United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER), the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation (GPEDC), and the European Commission (DG INTPA), is jointly organizing an international research conference on the effectiveness of development co-operation. The conference will be held 17-18 November 2022 in Brussels, Belgium.

The two-day conference provides a forum for presentation and discussion of innovative, high-quality research that speaks to the relationship between the implementation of the development effectiveness principles and the achievement of development outcomes. The conference hosts around 80 speakers, who were selected out of a pool of nearly 300 excellent applicants. The key findings of the conference will be compiled to provide evidence-based input into GPEDC’s work and in particular the 2022 GPEDC High-Level Meeting. The conference will be held in Brussels, at the Sheraton Brussels Airport Hotel.

Through plenary sessions, parallel sessions, and poster sessions the conference programme will address a variety of crucial questions related to the aid-development nexus, aid effectiveness principles, and the factors that influence aid effectiveness and performance. The primary focus of the research that will be presented and discussed is on fragile and conflict-affected contexts and low-income countries.

The keynote speaker of the conference is Professor Anke Hoeffler from the University of Konstanz.

The conference sessions will be available for streaming.
