Green industrialization and inclusive growth in a fractured world order
18–20 March 2026, New Delhi, India | The 2026 WIDER Development Conference addresses themes central to today’s development agenda, including the future of multilateralism, the rise of South–South trade and investment, the just energy transition, industrial policy for structural transformation, and the implications of protectionism and global debt distress for long-term growth. Through keynote lectures, high-level plenaries, and parallel research sessions, participants engage with cutting-edge evidence on how global economic governance must evolve to meet the needs of the Global South.
What do we know about poverty and inequality for the next development agenda?
On 16 October, UNU-WIDER hosts a special event featuring presentations on the new UN-ESCWA report World poverty through a broader lens: Rethinking measurement and policy approaches by Khalid Abu-Ismail and UNU-WIDER's WIID Companion—the most comprehensive set of harmonized global income inequality statistics available—by Rahul Lahoti. The conversation will focus on the latest evidence, debate different measurement approaches and target indicators, and explore their profound implications for our analysis of where we are today and the post-2030 development agenda.
