Tony Addison and Alan Roe will discuss extractive industries at Oxford Policy Management seminar on 19 October

Chief Economist and Deputy Director of UNU-WIDER, Tony Addison, and UNU-WIDER Non-Resident Senior Research Fellow, Alan Roe, will discuss the role and importance of the extractives sector at an Oxford Policy Management seminar entitled ‘Making the extractive industries sustainable and inclusive’.

Addison and Roe are the editors of a new UNU-WIDER book Extractive Industries: The Management of Resources as a Driver of Sustainable Development, published by Oxford University Press. The discussion is linked to the themes of the book: how extractives sector works, how it continues to change rapidly and how its importance to low- and middle-income countries is growing. The book emanates from the UNU-WIDER project Extractives for Development.
