Inclusive Knowledge Production for Effective Development Co-operation

This is an organized panel submitted by Dr Albert Sanghoon Park, which presents four studies that speak from diverse perspectives to the theme of Inclusive Knowledge Production for Effective Development Co-operation. Dr Rekha Bhangaonkar’s study investigates the role of learning in building the adaptive management capacity of local institutions in groundwater governance in India. Dr Park focuses on the concept of ‘resilience’, examining how ASEAN and its member states use the concept in sustainable development policy. It maps a policy history of 'resilience' in Asian contexts to offer a comparison to the many uses of 'resilience' in the European Union and the United Nations. Georges Quist’s study offers analysis of bank data and policy reports, with particular attention to Côte d’Ivoire, to argue that the focus on corruption to explain the performance of National Development Banks in developing and emerging economies is overemphasized. Professor Noura Wahby explores the making of infrastructure in Middle East cities in the face of rising urban inequalities and grassroots mobilisation efforts.
