UPDATE | The deadline for the call for papers has been extended until Friday 15 May 2020.

The conference is organized under the umbrella of the Inclusive growth in Mozambique – scaling up research and capacity programme. The programme is implemented jointly by the Directorate of Economic and Financial Studies (DEEF) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Mozambique, the Centre for Economic and Management Studies (CEEG) at Eduardo Mondlane University, the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER), and the Development Economics Research Group (DERG) of the University of Copenhagen.

The international conference will bring together 200 academic researchers, policy makers, and members of the development community from across the world to share findings and exchange knowledge on inclusive growth and development, and to discuss the challenges faced in low-income countries, in particular Mozambique. The conference will feature two international keynote speakers, twelve academic parallel sessions, a poster session and at least one policy panel.

We welcome submissions of academic papers from international and national researchers on the following themes:

  • Stimulating structural transformation
  • Supporting pro-poor macro-fiscal management
  • Understanding trends in wellbeing and equity
  • Enhancing labour productivity (especially in the informal sector and agriculture)
  • Strengthening institutions
  • Promoting access to and quality of public services (e.g., education, health)
  • Addressing and adapting to climate change

Papers relating directly to Mozambique or other (resource-rich) low-income countries are encouraged.

Interested applicants wishing to present original research at the conference on the topics discussed above should complete the online application form. We particularly encourage submissions from early-career, female, and developing country researchers.

Papers will be selected based on their quality and relevance to the conference themes. They can be written and presented in either English or Portuguese.
