Africa's Economic Future: Learning from the Past

The current paper, briefly discusses the African growth record. It presents evidence on the historical sources of growth. The paper employs the taxonomy of ‘policy syndromes’ to explain the observed growth patterns. It discusses how governance might help decrease the likelihood of these syndromes and hence increase growth.
