Social Provision in Finland

The chapter talks about the indicators that should be taken into account when examining the current economic, social, and political conditions of developing countries, concentrating on the importance of civil societies in systematising and providing social services in Finland. The discussion starts by looking at historical developments of non-governmental institutions that are currently operating. This is followed by the system, components, stages involved in social provision, with much attention given to significant stances of religious communities, specific societies, and local government. Existing challenges, opportunities, and predicaments in Finnish social development (which mainly revolves on the issues on education and medical services) are then described. The chapter ends with the conclusion that Finland's capacity and ability to deliver effectively social services is not determined by high income levels and national output, but is accounted for by the extent of cooperation among the members of society.
